Map services before locations

Start with the work you actually want. A plumber may need separate pages for blocked drains, geysers, leak detection and emergencies. A locksmith may separate automotive, emergency, residential and commercial work. Service clarity creates the core topic structure before location pages are added.

Build location pages only when they deserve to exist

A Pretoria page, Centurion page and Sandton page can be useful when the business genuinely serves those markets and each page helps the customer understand coverage, relevant services and nearby areas. Publishing dozens of pages with only the suburb name swapped creates little value and can become doorway-style content.

A useful location page should have its own context, service priorities, nearby links, FAQs and proof that makes sense for that market. It should also be reachable through normal navigation, not hidden only for search engines.

Align Google Business Profile and the website

Your core name, phone, website, hours and service information should not tell conflicting stories. Use the Business Profile to represent the real business and the website to provide deeper service and area information. Reviews and photos strengthen trust when they are genuine and kept current.

Internal links are part of the strategy

The homepage should link to major services and markets. Service pages should link to areas where the service is actually available. Location pages should link back to the most relevant services. Industry or resource content should support those commercial pages without competing with them for the same intent.

Measure impressions before obsessing over rankings

Search Console shows which queries and pages are earning impressions and clicks. That data is more useful than checking a single keyword from one device. Over time, build new content where genuine demand and business value overlap.

Local SEO is cumulative

Technical setup can be completed quickly, but authority, content coverage, reviews and search performance build over time. Avoid anyone guaranteeing a fixed number-one position. The goal is a growing footprint of relevant visibility that produces suitable enquiries.
